Our learning this half term
In English this half term we are looking at Folktales, we are beginning this topic with a tale from India, The Tiger Child.
After, we will be exploring Biographies and Recount texts.
We will be exploring a wide range of mathematical skills this half tern: place value, adding, subtracting and partitioning.
Throughout the year we will be working on our times tables recall. In our class we use Times Tables Rock Stars to earn coins and improve our knowledge of number facts.
This half term we are exploring Light and Dark, we are investigating how we see, which materials are most reflective and how mirrors work.
Throughout the half term we will be researching and exploring Blackpool's rich history; including our own houses and some of our famous landmarks.
Alongside History, we are exploring our local area, we are going to take learning walks, create maps of the immediate area and locating our school on a map. We will be looking at UK and world maps, and finding out how many places we can label.
Isn't Autumn wonderful? Leaves turning fantastic yellows, browns and oranges as they fall graciously to the flaw. We are going to be using this fantastic season to bring life to our art sketches.
In PE we are beginning to build skills for invasion games, we are working on our throwing and catching as well as our attacking and defending skills.
It's so great to share our ideas and beliefs in a calm and welcoming setting, we love finding out what others believe and so this half term we are focusing on Hinduism. We are even going to be visiting a place of worship to find out how some Hindu's worship.
Personal, Social, Heath Education. Not only is it important to learn new skills in subjects, but it is very important to learn more about our selves and the relationships we build with others.
In PSHE this half term we are looking at new beginnings, we will be setting targets for ourselves and find out what we are good at.
This half term we will be using the laptops on Scratch, we will be planning and creating our own animations. We will be designing characters and background settings, as well as adding movement and sound.
This is new for Year 3 as it is only in KS2 that children begin to explore new languages. We will be getting to know each other using some simple French phrases and we will be putting all of our knowledge into a song.
