We are Year 5, otherwise known as class 5AD or Mr Dunderdale's class.
Over the year, we will be covering many fun topics and hopefully learning a lot about our world!
Have a look below to see what we have been up to.
During our first half-term we have been learning about many different topics, you can see what we have been learning about below:
One of our main focuses in Literacy this half-term has been looking at Myths and Legends of the British Isles, we focused on Robin Hood and have created our versions of the book 'Outlaw' by Michael Morpurgo.
The first half-term is always a busy one in Numeracy and we have spent it re-capping our knowledge of place value, using decimal numbers, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
In History we have been learning all about the Anglo-Saxons and how they helped to shape the Britain we have today.
In French we have been re-capping our previous knowledge and have started practising our conversational French!
In R.E. we have been learning about Judaism and specifically the Sukkot festival.
In P.E. we have been learning how to play Basketball and have even had a match against 5KF to test out our skills!
In Science we have looked at the 'Properties of Materials' and conducted many experiments to test whether specific materials are waterproof, absorbant, conductive of heat or electricity and whether they are insulators.
In Geography we have learning about how to read maps and navigate; you can see some photos of our trip to Beacon Fell lower down this page. We used maps and compasses to navigate our way around the fell and then we attempted to build our own version of 'Anglo-Saxon' houses using the cut down tree branches on the Fell.
